The 2026 Register

Gold IRA companies. Questions worth asking.

Six company profiles, arranged alphabetically. Each starts with a source-backed issue to investigate. Dealers, custodians and depositories play different roles; confirm who is responsible for each service.
Storage choices

American Hartford Gold

AHG describes depository storage options and advises against home storage for a precious-metals IRA. Ask which custodian and depository your particular account would use.

Buyback conditions

Augusta Precious Metals

Augusta’s FAQ says future repurchases are not guaranteed and its buyback policy can change. Its price-guarantee cancellation window should not be confused with a promise to buy back every holding.

Dealer and custodian roles

Birch Gold Group

Birch describes the separate role of an IRA custodian in transactions, reporting and paperwork. Confirm the actual custodian’s agreement and fee schedule rather than treating Birch’s dealer service as the custody contract.

Statement value and sale proceeds

Goldco

Goldco explains that account statements come from the IRA custodian. A statement’s metal valuation is not a dealer’s binding offer to buy your holdings; request an executable bid when comparing exit costs.

Company history

Lear Capital

Lear’s company page dates its business to 1997 and describes bullion purchases and precious-metals IRA services. That history does not establish current fees, service quality or the value of an individual offer.

Exit routes and pricing

Priority Gold

Priority’s published policy distinguishes open-market sales, immediate liquidation and consignment. Immediate liquidation uses a wholesale bid; consignment has eligibility restrictions and a stated fee. This is not evidence of a universal zero-spread buyback.

The decision framework

Read the terms.
Compare the whole cost.

A headline fee tells only part of the story. Match the product and quantity, then compare acquisition premiums, account fees, storage and the cost of selling.
